Getting feedback

How do I get feedback on a draft?

Open Paste a draft, save it, then choose Get feedback in the editor. The first time, you’ll see exactly what is sent before anything leaves Goodmargin.

Why doesn’t my feedback mention prompt fit?

Prompt fit is assessed only when a prompt is attached. Add one in the editor’s Prompt tab, then ask again.

I edited my essay. Is my old feedback gone?

No. Feedback always belongs to the version it read, and reopening it shows the same stored words. After you edit, the editor offers feedback on the new version.

The feedback didn’t finish.

Your draft is still saved. Use Try again. A retry of the same version reuses the same request, and a failed attempt doesn’t count toward your daily limit.

A comment is wrong or misreads my draft.

Choose Report under the comment. Reports go to the Goodmargin team and help improve the reviewer. The server also withholds any comment whose quote doesn’t match your exact words.

Your writing

Will Goodmargin write my essay?

No. It asks questions, points to passages, and suggests revision goals. It never inserts text into your draft.

Is the score an admission prediction?

No. It’s a coarse summary of the written feedback on five writing dimensions, kept behind “View rubric score”. It says nothing about any college’s decision.

Are the deadlines and prompts official?

No. Everything in Colleges is entered by you and labelled that way. Always check each college’s current requirements on its own site.

How do I export or delete my writing?

Settings has a full export and account deletion. Each essay’s Details tab can export or delete that essay.
